Former District 20 student William Whitworth, now 19 years old, has been charged with attempted murder by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Whitworth is accused of preparing attacks on three different schools in the Colorado Springs area. Whitworth named Timberview Middle School as one of his “main targets.”
Whitworth identifies as transgender, considers himself to be a female, and goes by the name “Lily.” Whitworth is currently being held in the Elbert County Jail on accusations of criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, interference with employees or students, menacing, and criminal mischief.
In the affidavit for Whitworth’s arrest, it is stated that the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office received information about threats made by Whitworth regarding a school shooting. During a later investigation, deputies discovered evidence at the residence of the suspect.
This evidence included diaries containing lists of firearms and how to create them, a list of individuals to be killed, and knowledge about improvised explosive devices. According to the document, which was obtained by KRDO, detectives discovered the manifesto, as well as a dry-erase board with floor blueprints and a notebook containing a list of names.

When asked how much she knew about school shootings, Whitworth allegedly said, “Too much,” as stated in the affidavit.
The manifesto, according to Whitworth, was four pages long and contained “schizophrenic rants.” According to the affidavit, however, when deputies questioned her about whether or not she suffered from schizophrenia, she responded, “I hope not.” The preliminary hearing for Whitworth is planned to take place on May 5, 2023, and the bond has been set at $75,000.
