Governor Kevin Stitt (R) of Oklahoma has justified his decision to veto funding for the state’s PBS station by citing the station’s LGBTQ programming for children as a form of “indoctrination.” One of the shows in question featured a drag queen named “Lil Miss Hot Mess” reading a book titled The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish. during an instructional segment.

In an interview, Gov. Stitt referenced the “indoctrination and over-sexualization” of children as the reason for his decision to veto a bill that would have extended taxpayer financing for the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) through 2026. He claimed that OETA is no longer a source of education and that taxpayer money could be better spent elsewhere.

Bob Spinks, a member of the Friends of OETA board, explained that one-third of OETA’s funding comes from the state and taxpayers. He warned that if the bill was not passed, the station could close.

Governor Stitt recently signed a bill into law that prohibits transgender surgery on children and the prescription of puberty blockers to children, Breitbart News reported this development.
