In a groundbreaking interview, former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund voiced his concerns to Tucker Carlson about the events surrounding the January 6, 2021 protests at the U.S. Capitol. He startlingly stated, “everything appears to be a cover-up.”
During an earlier conversation with Russell Brand, Carlson mentioned that he became intrigued by the January 6th events due to the surrounding “lying about it.” Carlson asserted, “it becomes really obvious that core claims they made about January 6 were lies.”
Interestingly, Carlson had showcased unreleased footage of the protests, which seemed to counter the popular media narrative. He told Brand of his interview with Sund, which was never aired as Carlson was let go from Fox before it could be broadcast.
Steven Sund, with a police service record spanning three decades, served as the head of the U.S. Capitol Police until the protests. He resigned on January 7th after claims by figures including then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, pinpointing a “failure of leadership at the top.”

In a subsequent letter to Pelosi and other congressional leaders in February 2021, Sund mentioned, “nothing in our collective experience or our intelligence indicated that a well-coordinated, armed assault on the Capitol might occur on Jan. 6.” He was critical of the entire intelligence community, stating they seemed to have “missed this.”

Revealing what seemed like an inadequate response, Sund shared that he requested the National Guard’s support days before the protests, but his requests were declined. Requests made during the protests also met the same response, with the National Guard only arriving much later at 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 6.

In the same unreleased interview, Sund expressed his frustrations: “If people were reporting the intelligence correctly, if I was allowed to do my job…we wouldn’t be here. This didn’t have to happen.”
He went on to suggest a potential cover-up, emphasizing he wasn’t naturally inclined to conspiracy theories. However, the given circumstances, particularly being denied intelligence and support, made him question the actual intentions of those in authority. Sund questioned, “Could they have possibly wanted something to happen?”

To this, Carlson opined that the aftermath of the January 6th events greatly aided the Democratic Party, even if at the expense of politicizing major American institutions.
Backing Sund’s claims, Raheem Kassam, the editor in chief of the National Pulse, labeled the interview as “absolutely extraordinary.” There’s a hint of more revelations to come, with the subject of Ray Epps’ role in the Jan. 6 protests expected to be discussed in future interview excerpts.
