Robert F. Kennedy Jr., often criticized for his “anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist” views, is reportedly planning to run as an Independent candidate in the 2024 election.
Sources close to him suggest that he will announce his departure from the Democratic Party on October 9th in Pennsylvania. An insider from the Kennedy campaign disclosed that Kennedy believes the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is altering rules to exclude his candidacy, which has led him to consider an independent run as his only option.
His campaign allegedly intends to launch “attack ads” against the DNC prior to his Philadelphia announcement. Kennedy has been increasingly critical of the Democratic Party, accusing them of imposing “Marxist, authoritarian COVID mandates” and deciding against holding primary debates for the 2024 presidential election. His moderate views have also drawn criticism from the Left, putting him at odds with the core principles of the Democratic Party.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has described Kennedy’s campaign as a “false flag operation,” accusing it of promoting anti-Semitic and xenophobic conspiracy theories. Jeffries further alleges that Kennedy and his “Right-wing political operatives” are solely focused on undermining President Joe Biden.
Kennedy’s criticisms of Biden and Democratic policies have made him a popular guest on right-leaning media outlets. Despite not being a Republican, his views are seen as helping conservatives shape a narrative that resonates with Republican voters. A recent poll conducted among New Hampshire Democrats brought out negative descriptions of Kennedy, with the most common responses being “crazy,” “dangerous,” “insane,” “conspiracy,” and “unknown.”
