Former NFL player Sergio Brown, who had been missing since his mother’s death, has reportedly surfaced in a strange Instagram Story posted on a suspected burner account. In the video, Brown, 35, addresses the news that his mother, Myrtle Brown, 73, was found dead near a creek behind her home.

He alleges that he thought his mother was on vacation and claims that he had been kidnapped by the FBI and the Maywood Police Department. Brown also accuses these authorities of abducting him twice from his home. The video, which was filled with incoherent rants and accusations of “fake news,” was reportedly taken in Mexico City before it was deleted and reposted without the location tag. His current whereabouts remain uncertain.

Prior to their disappearance, neighbors noticed unusual behavior from Brown for several months. Carlos Cortez, a neighbor, last saw Brown and his mother on Thursday before they vanished.

Cortez mentioned that police saw something unusual on a Ring doorbell camera: Brown taking out the trash and burning what seemed to be all of his mother’s clothes in a bonfire. According to Cortez, this abnormal behavior has been typical for Brown recently. He also mentioned that the slain woman’s relatives said her son had been acting “out of his mind.”

The Maywood Police Department is aware of the video and is investigating its authenticity. Brown, known for his career in the NFL from 2010 to 2016, has not been named a suspect in his mother’s homicide. His mother’s body was found near the Addison Creek, and her death has been ruled a homicide.

The Maywood Police Department continues to actively investigate the case and has requested anyone with information regarding Brown’s whereabouts to contact its anonymous tip line.
