In a shocking move, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has reportedly fired an entire team of investigators who were looking into Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings. Now, a whistleblower, who was part of this group, has accused the Biden administration of obstructing this investigation and retaliating against him for his revelations. This is a serious accusation, and one that we need to take a close look at.
The whistleblower’s attorney, Mark Lytle, sent a letter to Congress, stating that the whistleblower could provide proof of various improper decisions by the Biden administration. Lytle also made a strong accusation, saying that “political considerations were having an impact on the decision for agents to make investigative steps in the case.” This is not how our justice system should work. Politics should never interfere with the pursuit of truth and justice.
Now, here’s where things get really concerning. The IRS responded to these accusations by firing the entire investigative team, including the whistleblower. This is a move that the whistleblower’s attorneys are calling “retaliatory” and possibly obstruction of a congressional inquiry. This presents a massive red flag.
What’s more, the attorneys claim that the whistleblower was told the decision to fire the team came from the Department of Justice. Now, the whistleblower hasn’t explicitly confirmed that the investigation was into Hunter Biden, but sources in Congress and the Wall Street Journal have backed up this claim.
And here’s the real kicker. Just last month, IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel testified to the House Committee on Ways and Means, swearing that there would be no retaliation against any whistleblower. But this recent move seems to directly contradict that promise.
Hunter Biden’s taxes have been under scrutiny since 2018. So, why now? Why remove the investigators who have spent years on this case and have become the subject-matter experts? It’s these kinds of actions that shake our trust in our institutions and the rule of law.
It’s absolutely crucial that we get to the bottom of this. I urge our lawmakers to give this matter their prompt attention, as the whistleblower’s attorneys requested. We need transparency, accountability, and most importantly, we need truth.
