Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform X, has criticized Tucker Carlson for allowing Larry Sinclair, a convicted fraudster, to claim without providing “objective evidence” that he had sex and smoked crack cocaine with former President Barack Obama.

This interview was aired on Carlson’s show via X and has garnered nearly 14 million views since it was posted.

Sinclair, 61, is known for his repeated and debunked claims about having a drug-fueled sexual encounter with Barack Obama in the late 1990s, when Obama was a little-known Illinois state senator. He first made these allegations public in 2008 during a National Press Club meeting in Washington, D.C. Sinclair was subsequently arrested and his claims dismissed due to a lack of substantiating evidence.

In response to the recent airing of Sinclair’s claims, Elon Musk tweeted: “Of course, the probability that his claims are true would have to rest on objective evidence, rather than claims made by someone with a dubious history.” Musk’s comment referred to Sinclair’s extensive criminal record, which includes multiple convictions and arrests dating back to the 1980s.

Despite the controversy surrounding Sinclair’s claims and his criminal history, Tucker Carlson has continued to provide him with a platform on his show. Carlson began broadcasting on X after being fired from Fox News. Musk has previously praised X as a platform where “people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said.”

Representatives for X and Carlson at his talent agency MN2S have not responded to requests for comment. Meanwhile, Sinclair, appearing with casts on both wrists, insisted on Carlson’s show that he stands by his claims and his criminal history.
